Cynthia Waugh, PhD

2016-08-22 17.35.51 (2)Cynthia is a passionate educator who has spent most of her career either teaching children and youth with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) or training others to do so.

After more than 20 years as an educator Cynthia left her position on the Autism Team with the Durham District School Board to pursue  a PhD in Applied Psychology and Human Development at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education at the University of Toronto (OISE/UT). Her dissertation involved the development and evaluation of an intervention targeting Theory of Mind (ToM) and friendship-making skills for children with high-functioning ASD.

Cynthia now divides her time between social skills groups (The Friendship Lab), consulting to school boards, educators and parents, and teaching in the Faculty of Education at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education at the University of Toronto (OISE/UT)
